Colorado Springs, Colorado: ...but no tornados! If ya'll have been reading this herewebsite for any time at all, you know we are not very good at long haul driving (like we were in our early RVing days). Lately, 250 miles per day is huge. Today we drove nearly 350 miles on I-25 from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Colorado Springs, Colorado.
We had terrible wind through New Mexico and the NOAA app on my phone kept warning of thunderstorms all around us, but not actually above us... so we forged on, stopping only once for a bowl of soup (yes it was soup weather!) in a rest area.

As we crossed over the Colorado border, we were greeted by snow flakes. Weren't we just sitting poolside, under palm trees last week? The skies grew dark and the rest of the drive was through wind and occasional rain showers.
We checked into a campsite at the Garden of the Gods RV Resort. Technically in Colorado Springs, it is just a few feet from the Manitou Springs resort area and a great location to explore Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City and Colorado Springs.

Though we are continuing to Denver tomorrow to spend the weekend with my brother and his family, that did not stop my brother and his wife from driving an hour south from their home to have dinner with us tonight! Steve and Kris arrived about 6:30p and we went to dinner at a restaurant recommended to us by Brent & Crystal (they also recommended this RV park), Carlos' Bistro. Our meals were excellent and it was so great to see family!
Kris and Steve checked-into a local motel, and we will explore the area together in the morning before we continue to Denver.
Until my next update, I remain, your road-weary correspondent.
