Weather Report

Indio, California:  El Nino continues to pelt SoCal with gallons of much needed water. Floods. Wind. Landslides. Mudslides. Tornados. Snow. This valley usually gets about five inches of rain per year and two inches have fallen over the past two days. Temperatures rise to the mid 60's during the day and drop into the low 40's overnight. Also, Mother Nature threw-in a little earthquake yesterday to keep us on our toes. The 4.5 rumbler woke Dave, but I slept through the shaking.

Our campsite has been able to handle the deluge. A puddle formed just outside the casita, but My Driver figured out a way to keep it from entering the covered areas. With our radiant floor heaters in the motorhome, there is never a need to use the furnace. There is a lot of movie watching by the fire in the evenings and we exercise when there is a break in the rain.

Lots of good foods too:

Homemade pizza, topped with roasted yellow peppers, red onion, Kalamata olives and basil. Oh, and cheese. Mozzarella and Parmesan.

Braised Sesame-Ginger Tofu "steaks" is a great way to enjoy Chinese food without messy stir fry. Recipe coming soon.

There is also a lot of needlepointing going on by the fire in the evening. Two projects have recently been finished are have been sent off to two little newborns.

This little ladybug is for Shirley's new granddaughter, also named Lucy.

This colorful owl is for Mary's first grandchild, the adorable Cole.

We woke this morning to sunny skies, chilly temperatures and snow on all the surrounding mountains.

In all the years we have been coming to the Coachella Valley in the winter,
I have never seen snow so far down the mountain. Beautiful.

Snow and Palm Trees

One more view - still covered in clouds as well

Even Joshua Tree National Park has snow

Predictions call for a two-day break in the rain.

Until my next update, I remain, your warm and dry correspondent.
