This & That – from Bakersfield

Bakersfield, California: No more glitz and glamour for the T's. Time to hit the road. Time to visit the family. We were on our way just after 9 o'clock this morning - because I did not need 45 minutes to run.

Truth be told, it hurts to walk. I am not a doctor and I do not play one on television, but I think maybe I broke/sprained/bruised/damaged the pinkie on my right foot. Yesterday morning, before heading-out on our trek up and down the Las Vegas Strip, I banged my toe on a chair leg. Ouch. It really hurt! But, I put on my shoes and we walked 283 miles. When I took my shoe off last night, my toe was purple! It was disgusting and swollen. I iced it and after a night's rest, the swelling has nearly disappeared, but the color (think a nice French Cote du Rhone, 2009) remains.

I'm running tomorrow.

PS: I took a photo of the injury, but this is a family website.

I would like to report that our 275-mile drive from Las Vegas to Bakersfield was without incident. But I can't. If you don't follow us me on facebook you missed the bay door directly under the drivers seat popping-open while we were cruising along on I-15. Hello! Luckily, no one was in the next lane. And, luckily, we were on a huge interstate freeway with wide shoulders so My Driver could pull-over quickly and safely. I blame it all on the terrible California roads. Our bus (no matter the fancy airbag suspension) rattled like a maraca on a roller coaster on the California freeway. Then a light cover fell out of the ceiling. Fun times.

Side-note: Nevada roads are as smooth as glass.

We happily stopped for the night at the Bakersfield RV Resort. Not only do they have long pull-through sites, they have a nice little bar restaurant. No cooking tonight!

I had a fun email recently from Scott C, after he saw a photo of the Magna Peregrinuson the interweb (probably not hard to do, since I post several per week!) and was happy to see her. From Scott: I loved seeing pictures of the Oregon motor home. This coach was the last motor home I painted for Country Coach and, as a big Oregon Duck fan, it was my favorite paint job I have done in 10 years. Thanks for sharing.

Isn't that great? Thanks for writing, Scott, and thanks for doing such a marvelous job. We love our Duck Bus!

Until my next update, I remain, your rattled correspondent.
