There’s No Place Like Home

Indio, California: You know it's going to be a great day when you wake to pretty photos of your house, courtesy of your snowed-in housesitter:

Our house, with a few inches of snow - and the next-door vineyard:

Nearly all of Oregon is white after a freak March snowstorm. I can't exactly recall, but I think it has snowed five times at our Portland house since we have been away. This is quite extraordinary. Global Warming? Climate Change? I don't know, but I do know that I do not like cold. I do not like snow. Cold makes my old arthritic hip hurt.

Oregon winter I do not miss, but do I miss our house? Several of my gal-pals are ready for me to come home. They do not understand how I can stand to be away from home for months at a time. What they don't understand is that with a RV, you are "home" even if you aren't "home". I'm not saying I don't miss my sister and my friends and my double oven, but Dave and I are parked in paradise - and we are together.

We get to see this gorgeous view every morning (afternoon and evening). Being able to exercise out of doors is a big perk to our SoCal home. We would both be on the treadmill if we were in Oregon today!

Soon our little plot-o-paradise will include a covered area and a casita. The orange squares are where the pillars will stand.

And don't forget - we are only two hours away from this guy:

So the answer is no, I do not miss our house in Oregon.

Until my next update, I remain, your homey correspondent.

QUESTION: When you are traveling in your RV, what do you miss about home?

SLOGGER REPORT:  Two loops around the RV resort - 3 miles - with Mr. Jimmy Buffett on my iPod nano thingy.

RV Park:  Motorcoach Country Club - The Crown Jewel of Motorcoach Resorts. 400 sites, three pools, three spas, fitness center, golf, bocce ball, tennis, 2-mile waterway, fine-dining restaurant, bar, security, free wifi, planned activities, perfectly maintained. Sites for sale or rent.
