Oregon beats Cal in Levi Stadium, 59-41

San Francisco, California: Another beautiful day in San Francisco. No wonder Governor Brown's office has not phoned.

It was great to be able to jog along the shoreline this morning. As I said previously, the shoreline along this part of the coast is eroding at a fast rate. I noticed several ocean-front apartment buildings have been condemned.

This bad photo (above), snapped by my phone, explains the situation.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing and gathering goods and food for our tailgate party at Levi Stadium.

At 2:30p, we headed over to Santa Clara in two cars loaded with coolers, tables, chairs, food and drink. We thought we had reserved two parking spaces together, but as it turned out tickets reading "RED LOT 1, ROW 11, SPACES 27 & 28" only meant we paid in advance for two parking spaces! This was quite a mess, because we had told all our friends we would be at "ROW 11" and they herded us into Row 14 when we arrived. Goodness. Thank goodness for cell phones or we would have a lot of food to eat!

The parking attendants cleverly checked the attire of the drivers and sent Duck fans right and Bear fans left, so we tailgated with our own flock.

Dave's college roommate, Red, flew out from Chicago with his wife, Marcia, for the game!

The stadium was also showing the World Series game on the giant video screen, so we could catch the score from our tailgate party.

Since this was the first time we had been to Levi Stadium, the first thing we did was walk around the concourse. Very clean. Very simple. At least 50 stalls in every women's bathroom.

View of the field from the concourse - we counted about 90 private suite boxes.
Note World Series game on big screen.

Beautiful sunset

The home team - the California Bears of Berkeley - took the field with fireworks

The visiting Ducks came out onto the field with no fireworks.

The Oregon Ducks entered the stadium to loud cheers. A sad turnout by the
locals - there were many more Duck fans at the game than Bear fans.

It was another Duck victory! And though a very high scoring game, it really wasn't a very exciting game. But a win is a win and now the Fighting Ducks are 7-1 and remain in the top 10! GO DUCKS!

Until my next update, I remain, your very tired and happy correspondent.
