Newport, Oregon: And, just like that, we are at the beach! Would you even believe our entry step decided to pop itself out at 11p last evening and has been working properly since? What kind of voodoo is involved in that process?
We drove from Coburg to Junction City, then took 99W north to Corvallis and then took a left to Newport. A beautiful drive - filled with just-harvested or being-harvested fields. The weather is simply outstanding, which can always be touch-and-go on the Oregon Coast.
During our drive, I was catching the Washington Redskin v Jacksonville Jaguar game score and texting back and forth with Lenny. Lenny reported - just like the Oregon Duck who averages 230 pushups per game - Lisa was doing (cumulative) push-ups every time the Redskins scored. That's a lot of push-ups... (152!). Didn't she give birth just three weeks ago? Super Lisa.
Apparently the Redskin win was credited to the fact back-up quarterback Kirk Cousins and Our Little Lucy share the same birth date - August 19. This early in the season, Lenny will take anything.

Current regulations allow 12 male Dungeness crab - over 5.75 inches - to be kept each day. Many crabbers found their limit today.
Fellow Motorcoach Country Club RVers are camping here this week as well - just a few sites down - so we went to dinner tonight with Sue & Gary. Fun to see familiar faces in unfamiliar places. We drove into Old Town Newport and had a walk on the fishing docks before dinner.

We had dinner tonight at a place Captain Jim and Mary had told us about several years ago - Local Ocean. The restaurant only buys fish off local boats. I am happy to report Local Ocean has recently doubled their seating capacity (added a second story), so the wait-time for a table is greatly reduced.

Great evening with great people.
Until my next update, I remain, your local correspondent.
