Borrego Springs, California: No hours spent on the phone with my new boyfriendJohn this morning. Just a quick conversation in the morning where Mr. Watson announced he was pondering his next move. Meanwhile the powers that be up in space sent a few files to my modem around 11 o'clock this morning. (UPDATE: we were online until nearly 5p this afternoon.)
I ran four miles this morning in the glorious sunshine (in the magnificently flat desert) and then we drove 35 miles up into the mountains to Julian for a slice of pie.
Daddy also bought himself a Dutch Apple frozen unbaked pie. Anyway, 35 miles isn't so far to drive for a slice of pie when the scenery is this lovely. Here is a view of the little village of Borrego Springs. In the background, you can barely make-out the snow-capped mountains above Palm Springs! The road to Julian passes through rock-lined canyons, desert landscapes and then climbs up into the apple orchards of quaint Julian, California. (If you continue west, the road from Borrego Springs passes through Julian to San Diego.) Ocotillo
Southern California received buckets of rain last month. The desert is so green! The Ocotillo is leafing-out like mad! Photo by DT
And the ocotillo is in bloom!Cholla There are all sorts of flowers blooming in the desert this week!
We remained in this evening. After consuming only a slice of pie all day, we were ready for dinner! Mr. Driver grilled a rib eye steak (we shared) and we also enjoyed a lovely sliced avocado salad.
Until my next update, I remain, your sweet correspondent.
RV PARK: The Springs at Borrego RV Resort & Golf Course. One of our very favorite RV parks on the west coast. Sites are large and each has a nice cement patio and picnic table. Cement 50 amp pull-throughs will full service. There are also different varieties of citrus trees all over, so you will never be lacking for a cocktail garnish in the winter. Slow wifi. Fabulous warm pool and many hot tubs - all from their own hot springs! Fitness center, library, community rooms. Regulation 9-hole golf course. Recycling. Huge fenced dog park! We are paying $64 per night for a "premium" site.
