One Day

Indio, California: We had a seven o'clock wake up call this morning. We thought - since it was a National Holiday - the scheduled cleaning crew would not appear. We thought wrong so were surprised when we heard that knock on the door. Everything stored in the covered area/casita was cleaned, polished, buffed and hosed-down.

Mostly hosed down.

There was a thick coating of dust on everything in the covered area. Anything inside the (air conditioned) casita looked as it did the day we left in May. The girls hosed off the drop-down screens, the floor and brick walls, then continued to scrub every square inch of our covered patio.

(NOTE: The temperatures easily reach 110° daily over the summer months in Indio. We set the air conditioner (one of the fancy new Fujitsu wall-mounted systems) to 80° in the casita and the highest monthly electricity bill we received over the summer was $31. This tab also included all the exterior patio lights, landscape and dock lighting, irrigation timing, plus the fridge, etc.)

DT and I followed behind the work crew, placing the dishes, pots, pans, glassware and what-not back to their assigned position in the outdoor kitchen - running items through the dishwasher.

At 3:30p, we were finished. Everything was set in place.

DT attached the stored DirecTV receiver to the television. I "reauthorized it" via my iPhone and - voila - Monday Night Football was ours.

Good thing too - wouldn't want to miss a moment of football. Seriously? Is there a day without a football game? Monday Night Football. Thursday Night Football. Friday Night Football. Saturday All The Live Long Day and Night Football. Sunday All The Live Long Day and Night Football.

My head is about to explode.

Tuesday & Wednesday are the new black.

The nicest campsite we have ever visited. The lawn looks more perfect than Astroturf.

The dining and kitchen area.

The living area.

The Driver, enjoying a much deserved brewski.

So much for that all "running to keep fit" scenario. I am so sore this evening from standing all day and lifting and bending and cleaning and whatever-ing. Same for DT. Exhausted.

I buzzed-out to the supermarket to fetch a few things this afternoon, but supper was ready - made in advance at our home in Portland last month.

Though I have posted a gazillion food photos on this site over the past month (NAPA!), this is the first photo I have posted of something I have actually prepared myownselfsince 17 October.

I made a batch of my healthy Turkey Lasagna filling before we left home last month. The filling was frozen in a vacuum-sealed bag (to about the size of a magazine) until needed this evening. It could not have taken five minutes to layer the thawed sauce between the ready-bake pasta sheets. Just the perfect meal for our first evening in our perfect campsite at the Motorcoach Country Club. (NOTE: I used mozzarella instead of the usual Parmesan-pretty-much because I had a little mozzarella already shredded.)

We have a big day Wednesday. The RV will have her annual wax, the interior will be detailed and our golf cart will be returned to us from storage!

Be still my heart!

VETERANS DAY: Today I am thinking of my wonderful Father-in-Law, Air Force career pilot Colonel Will Taylor, and my Mom's three brothers who served in (and happily returned from) WWII, my nephew Anthony - who served too many tours in Iraq and Afghanistan - and give thanks to every veteran serving Our Nation.

Until my next update, I remain, your dusty correspondent.

RV PARK: The Motorcoach Country Club - The Crown Jewel of Motorcoach Resorts. 400 sites, three pools, three spas, fitness center, golf, bocce ball, tennis, 2-mile waterway, fine-dining restaurant, bar, security, planned activities, perfectly maintained. Sites for sale or rent.
