Nothing to Report

Indio, California: Nothing happened. Nothing. It rained. Where this rain came from we are not sure. (We didn't even have our bus washed - which is usually a precursor to rain.) Rain was not predicted. All of the sudden we woke at seven and it was really dark and really raining hard.

A good day to play hookie.

Late morning, I made buttermilk waffles. Occasionally the skies would brighten and we would think about lacing up our NIKE's. Finally, Dave rode his bike 20 miles around the RV resort. On a 1.5 mile loop, his trek is either incredibly boring or a bordering on a man v hamster wheel intervention. I didn't head out until late afternoon and only jogged an easy three miles. Still recovering from my night with the cousins too-many-miler yesterday.

I was still on my run when My Driver snapped this pretty sunset photo with my camera.

Bad iPhone photo of good Cannelloni

We had reservations at Chappeli's in La Quinta (Warning: their site has music.) For some reason, we did not visit this local favorite last year, but found the restaurant basically the same. Not good. Not bad. Chappeli's is in a strip mall, next to a huge supermarket, so lacks the initial ambience expected when entering a fairly expensive, fine-dining establishment. There is really no "greeting" area and no area to wait until your table is ready. (There is a pretty bar, but seating is limited to maybe 8 people. Equals=NOT A BAR in my book.) Our service was lacking a bit, but our meals were good. We did notice a "change of ownership" official notice on the window, so maybe they are in transition? Not sure, but there are plenty of other Italian restaurants in the area to visit or try again before we will return. Plus, My Sweet Driver commented that except for the pork/shellfish items on the menu, he can dine at home just as well.

SLOGGER REPORT: Three easy jogging miles around the RV resort. 42 total; 58 to go.

Until my next update, I remain, your boring correspondent.
