La Quinta Arts Festival

Indio, California: Bet you didn't realize we are all fancy-schmantzy and go to art fairs. We don't usually. But, we did today.

Apparently, the #3 Fine Arts Festival in the nation occurs just a few miles from our campsite. We had to go! The La Quinta Arts Festival is held in a lovely park situated around the grounds housing the city hall and library buildings. Hundreds of artists display their creations - paintings, photography, glass, jewelry, textiles, sculpture, metal - at the four day event.

Admission was $12 for one day (or $15 for all four days). All artists exhibit outdoors, or in tents. There were several live music venues and we enjoyed most of the many styles of music during the afternoon. Temperatures reached nearly 90 degrees in the Coachella Valley today! It was hot walking amongst all the beauty today!

But there were plenty of shady places to cool-off in the shady park.

Plenty of places to pause and watch the fish and ducks in the lake.

DT and I saw so many beautiful paintings and photographs. Truly our nation is blessed with incredibly talented artists. I think Dr. Seuss inspired these lawn sculptures.

After strolling past every booth, we stopped for refreshment. DT had a beer.

I went straight for the hand-dipped vanilla ice cream covered in chopped nuts.

It was the only piece of art I purchased all day.

Until my next update, I remain, your artistic correspondent.
