Walkabout

Indio, California: Are you are all tired at looking at this view?

You can rest assured, I am not tired of looking at this view... but this afternoon, DT and I had a walkabout through the Motorcoach Country Club - with my new pocket-sized camera. It was 86 degrees and we walked two miles, stopped to check-out a few lots for sale and stopped to chat with a few acquaintances and even stopped to look at a few two million dollar coaches on display - and for sale. (Didn't bring my checkbook on the walk, dang!)

Maybe you would be interested in a few different views of this unique RV resort?

The lot on the right is a "privacy" lot for sale. Privacy lots are back-in campsites. These sites are very popular with dog owners, since the entire back area can be fenced and the doggies can enjoy the lawn. Privacy sites are also popular with owners who want to install their own swimming pools/hot tubs. These lots are the lowest priced properties in this resort.

I like this lot - it is super deep and would be very private. It is priced under $90,000. Negatives are the big ugly white utility box in front and the fact no one would be able to see the big "O" painted on the back of our RV!

I wonder at times why the Good Lord gave me a brain, since I so rarely use it for anything actually practical.

Here is a typical view of a typical street in the Motorcoach Country Club.

One door down from the site we have rented this month is another lot for sale. It sits on the corner of the canal.

This front-in lot has a privacy hedge on the driver side and a large front lawn, leading down to a boat dock. This lot is priced at $195,000-ish.

It has a gorgeous view of the canal. The bougainvillea-covered rocks lead under a bridge to access the rest of the waterway. There is also a view to the snow-capped mountains west of Palm Springs. Nice! Negatives: it is one site over from the site we are renting with the super fabulous view down the canal... which also is for sale, though at a much higher price.

The corner lot is just steps away from the hysterically-named "Yacht Club" - with a pool, hot tub, laundry center and upstairs party room. We have been using this pool for years and just recently learned it is for lot owners only. Oops.

And, just for fun, here is a view of our motorhome from the complete opposite end of the canal. Can you even see the Magna Peregrinus way down there???

In the center of the resort sits the gorgeous club house.

Club House

Swimming pools behind the club house

Behind the club house is a huge swimming pool, hot tub and even a foot-deep kiddies pool. I have never seen a child in this pool. Unless it is Spring Break or Winter Break, there is rarely a child in the resort at all... and they are more likely to be grandchildren anyhoo.

The club house is spectacularly appointed. Fabulous landscaping, outdoor cocktail areas with fire pits, a great bar, gourmet restaurant, top-of-the-line fitness center, locker rooms and massage room. There are tennis courts and a putting green surrounding the club house.

This lot, offered at $199,900 also faces into the canal (on the opposite side of the resort from where we are camped), with a boat dock and a large lawn.

It also has a pretty view to the water. Negatives: it looks across to the front of other motorhomes. What are the Smith's having for dinner tonight?

On the plus side - it is just steps away from another satellite pool. Yes, there are three swimming pools/club houses in this resort.

As usual, we are only window-shopping. Just can't get our little brains wrapped-around owning a very expensive RV lot. On the other hand... with a Los Angeles grandbaby coming soon... what better incentive to spend more time in SoCal?

Until my next update, I remain, your renting correspondent.
