Kathy’s Birthday, One Day Early

Indio, California: Another gorgeous day in the desert. It does not hurt that I know the weather is rainy and cold at home.

I am heartless.

Also, we did not win the megahumongus zillion-dollar lotto last night. No one did. Guess that is because we are scheduled to win the even larger lotto on Friday. There is a method to my madness.

Our contractor delivered our "finished" site plan and building elevations today. They are mostly accurate. I was also given two massive stone/tile catalogs to peruse. We have only a few weeks to get our site plan approved by the resort Architectural Committee, and we must choose everything required for the build-out (stone, tile, sink, toilet, faucets, light fixtures, etc., etc., etc.,) before we head north. DT is heading back to Oregon (via airplane), and is leaving all the decisions to me.

Either the World's Smartest Man or the World's Craziest Man.

Difficult to see from this simple drawing how our design will appear when finished. The exterior will be brick, the interior will be stucco. We are still going for simple, simple, simple. To refresh your memory... below is basically our plan:

Kathy & Woody are in town, visiting Kathy's Dad and his wife at their winter home in Rancho Mirage. Today, the guys went golfing, but we gathered tonight to celebrate Kathy's birthday a day early at the Tommy Bahama Restaurant (above the Tommy Bahama store on El Paseo) in Palm Desert. It is the greatest racket restaurant of all time... instead of "exiting through the gift shop", at this place you exit through a Tommy Bahama shop.

Credit Card Danger Zone.

The Birthday Girl was in fine form. We enjoyed delicious meals on the beautiful rooftop dining room and then our server, the Lovely Stella, brought Kathy a dessert with a candle.

Prettiest Grandma Ever.

And these two Grandpa's aren't too bad either.

Until my next update, I remain, your celebratory correspondent.
