Thursday with Tim

Indio, California: We had a very important luncheon appointment, so were up and exercised early for our meeting with Tim Forbes of It's Game Time Somewhere. Tim is writing about track and field athletes for his next book and will be attending the Pac-12 track championships and the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, so he wanted to pick DT's brain.

Tim could not have chosen a better brain.

We went to lunch (salads at Stuft Pizza) and then the boys spent the afternoon outside the Magna Peregrinus talking about The One True Sport, Oregon track & field, sports marketing, Ashton Eaton, drug testing, officiating, Alison Felix, dual meets, coaching, (plus... somehow.... our life while living in Southeast Asia). College basketball was also thrown-into the conversation. Mr. Forbes has spent the past month reading everything available about track & field, the University of Oregon, Bill Dellinger, Bill Bowerman, Steve Prefontaine, NIKE and the Oregon Track Club. Tim had a list of questions. DT had answers and apparently a few stories.

My Wonderful Husband is never happier than when discussing track & field. He loves the sport and can recall every split of every lap of every race. (Don't ask DT my birthday phone number - he will not know.)

Tim is super tall. I am super short.

This evening, we asked our neighbor Steve to dinner as Lois (and their dog, Rocky) is away for the week. I used Poor Steve as a guinea pig as I experimented trying to copy a lovely turkey lasagna I sampled last week in Los Angeles.

My version has a very simple turkey ragout layered with plenty of no-bake lasagna noodles. Perfect for RV cooking. Low fat and low calorie as well. I will try it again before posting the recipe, but after tonight, I think it will be a regular around this motorhome.

Until my next update, I remain, your track & field correspondent.

SLOGGER REPORT:  Will you all be bored to learn I ran the same course I have completed since Monday? So happy to see FIVE other women running today! 4 miles today/16 for the week.

RV Park:  Motorcoach Country Club - The Crown Jewel of Motorcoach Resorts. 400 sites, three pools, three spas, fitness center, golf, bocce ball, tennis, 2-mile waterway, fine-dining restaurant, bar, security, free wifi, planned activities, perfectly maintained. Sites for sale or rent.
