Happy New Year

Indio, California: Best Wishes to y'all for a Happy and Healthy 2014! We had another great day with the kids. I cooked my famed potato hash, we went on a long walk (a half-mile with Leo is a long walk) and did what most people do on January first - went swimming.

Dude is a little bean pole. You can see his little ribs! He eats well, but never ever stops moving.

Are we mean to compare his January 1st dip in the resort kiddie pool to the popular "Polar Bear Plunge" (jumping into a freezing-cold lake) on New Year's Day? Yeah. That was mean.

It was only 79° in Indio today.

Lenny, Lisa & Leo drove back to Los Angeles in the afternoon, and DT and I started cleaning-up (i.e., washing sheets, towels). Bowl games were watched.

I made a cross between gumbo and black-eyed pea soup - black-eyed peas, cajun-style chicken sausage, onion, garlic, tomatoes and okra - for dinner and sent some home with the kids. DT's Dad was from Texas, so it is tradition in the family to eat black-eyed peas on January 1st for good luck.

Let's hope it works.

Until my next update, I remain, your hopeful correspondent.
