Bandon, Oregon: Sunshine! Not a cloud in the sky sunshine! That is what we woke to this morning. Okay, so it was 43°. No matter. DT had no meetings, no conference calls... nothing on his schedule but a tee time.
Bliss.
Our tee time was for 18 holes at Bandon Crossings. Green fees were $55 each, plus a little more for the cart. This is the rare course where I suggest a cart. Long. Long. Long.
The course was in beautiful shape - the greens as smooth as Astroturf - and the weather warmed to the mid-50's. There were several holes where it was impossible to see the green or pin from the tee box, but other than that, we all really enjoyed Bandon Crossings and only hit to the wrong pin once!
Beautiful Madrone trees were all over the course. This tree is native to Oregon - we have three (very old and very small trees) on our property.
Right in the middle of the golf course is an old cattle shipping corral, a little hint to how this property was once purposed.
Okay, so I landed in the beach twice on this round. Not bad for me. Popped-out in one stroke on both - again, not bad for me. My scorecard read 123. My average. I so suck at golf.
No matter. An afternoon with Kathy and Woody. Sunshine. Golf.
After golfing, we popped into Bandon to visit a new Oregon cheese company. Face Rock Creamery opened their store in May 2013. I swear, this state is producing more cheese than Wisconsin these days. Just kidding, but Oregon cheese is simply amazing.
Woody says Cheeeeese.The Face Rock Creamery (named for a rock formation just off-shore of Bandon) makes cheddars and jacks - in several flavors. Their Pepper-Jack is the hottest I have evertasted.
