Continuing South

Brookings, Oregon: Beautiful sunshine greeted us again this morning, so DT and I headed down to China Creek Beach to run along the shore. The sand was soft, but the views were beautiful.

I took my iPhone and snapped a few photos on the beach just south of Table Rock:

I also used my phone to video chat with Leo in Los Angeles! He loved seeing the waves.... and me, but kept asking for Bubba.

Around noon, we all hitched-up our tow cars and caravanned south along Highway 101.

We stopped at a beautiful turn-out just below Humbug Mountain and enjoyed lunch with this view of rock formations just off-shore.

We made another stop to Fisherman's Direct Seafood in Gold Beach, Oregon. Dave and I really like their canned tuna. Expensive, but hook-and-line-caught locally and (unlike national brands, often not from the US) has super-low/no mercury because the tuna are so small/young when caught. If you use a lot of tinned tuna, I urge you to purchase from Fisherman's Direct. (Another great brand is Oregon's Choice Gourmet.)

By the time we had stopped for tuna, the fog had completely covered the town of Gold Beach. We drove in and out of fog the rest of the afternoon.

Our campsite for the night is in the marina in Brookings, Oregon - just a few miles north of the California border.

The RV park is basically a parking lot...

but this is the view from our front window!

I made bourbon, lemon, maple & rosemary cocktails, which we enjoyed in warm sunshine sitting in our folding chairs facing the sea.

I kid you not, before sunset the fog rolled-in!

Tomorrow we have another tee-time. I don't hit the ball very far, but am wondering... will be able to see my ball on the fairway in all this fog?

Until my next update, I remain, your foggy correspondent.

RV PARK: Beachfront RV Park at the Port of Brookings - Just a parking lot with full hook-ups on sandy gravel. Beach-front sites are 30-amp; back row have 50-amp service. Laundry. Wifi. We paid $41 per night. Too expensive for the services, but a pretty good deal when you consider the view.
