Golf & Dinner with Friends

Borrego Springs, California: The weather could not be better. Warm and sunny, with no wind. We had an 11 o'clock tee time at the Springs of Borrego Golf Course. A regulation 9-hole course, the 3,084 yards are so green and lush, it is hard to believe it is in the middle of a desert. Wide fairways are forgiving and the signature island green on the 9th/18th hole is not. We paid $45 per person, including cart, for 18 holes (playing the course twice).

Dave and Woody have been friends longer than forever. They were on the University of Oregon track team in the 1970's. DT ran distances; Woody jumped over hurdles. Then they worked together for about a quarter of a century. Now they are both retired and color-coordinate their golf outfits and wear matching shoes.

Kathy snapped this photo with her phone. The views from this course are just remarkable. With this view, did you even notice  DT is putting and Woody is inspecting his golf ball?

Maybe I should have just photo-shopped Woody & DT out of the photo?

By the way, I shot 127.

Try to not be jealous of my golfing skills.

Kathy & Woody invited us to dinner at the Krazy Coyote restaurant at The Palms Hotel- another local establishment that at one time entertained Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Bing Crosby, etc. The food was fine tonight, but the service was a bit off. Kathy thought maybe it was the first day on the job for every employee? The property is very interesting, filled with history and a classic example of Mid-Century Modern architecture. If you visit Borrego Springs, I encourage you to visit this hotel - even if you just have a drink in their pretty bar. Thank you, Dear Friends, for a lovely evening.

Our Little Grandson turned 18 months old today. To celebrate, his parents gave him a blueberry yoghurt cup, topped with whipped cream.

And then he had a bath.

Until my next update, I remain, your long-driving correspondent.

RV PARK: The Springs at Borrego RV Resort & Golf Course. One of our very favorite RV parks on the west coast. Sites are large and each has a nice cement patio and picnic table. Cement 50 amp pull-throughs with full service. There are also different varieties of citrus trees all over, so you will never be lacking for a cocktail garnish in the winter. Wifi. Fabulous warm pool and many hot tubs - all from their own hot springs! Fitness center, library, community rooms. Regulation 9-hole golf course. Recycling. Huge fenced dog park! We are paying $69 per night for a "premium" site.
