Indio, California: Another beautiful day in the Coachella Valley! This morning was simply perfect - warm and no wind!We were only away six days and our little container farm is bursting-out with herbs and veggies, So many tomatoes! I made scrambled eggs with tomatoes and green onion for breakfast. The boys went golfing and Dave's Mom and I went shopping. Seems there isn't much clothing to purchase in the wilds of Wyoming (that isn't produced by Levi or Lee or Wrangler), so Virginia thought walking into Chico's was about the greatest thing ever. The sales clerk told us everything in the store was 25%-off today. Yes!
We are finally the owners of a used golf cart - delivered this morning. Just what we need, more stuff. It is sad we finally decided to get a golf cart now that "the season" is winding-down and the golf cart will soon be headed into storage. Oh, well. Refurbished golf carts come at a very good price at the end of "the season". She doesn't look used at all - new upholstery, new lid, spiffed-up, new tires, new batteries, plus a new controller. Seats four. Headlights and brake lights, 4 cup holders (!), horn, flip-up wind screen. That's it for the bells & whistles. Not many. We really just need something that seats four and goes forwards and backwards. The golf cart even has her own special parking space.
Dave's friend-since-high school, Mark (and his beautiful wife, Debbie), came for dinner tonight. Mark spent a lot of time at DT's house in Merced during high school and Mark dined many times at Virginia's table. The boys were on the track team together and I'm not sure I will ever live long enough to hear all their tales. Debbie and Mark brought their little Tonkinese cat, Sabella, to enjoy a little time in the out-of-doors "camping" lifestyle.Sabella has quite a friendly personality and loves laps. I love a cat on my lap. A great night. Dave's Mom, Virginia, enjoying a glass of wine before dinner
DT grilled chicken thighs (that I had marinated all day in garlic, wine and herbs from our little garden). I "roasted" potatoes in the crockpot and made a Caprese Salad. Easy, delicious and Passover-friendly. Dessert was even easier - the coconut macaroons made by Lisa's Godmother, Nancy, for our Seder on Monday - and fresh strawberries!
I told you - I'm just kinda over cooking for a while.Caprese Salad with fresh basil from our pots, roasted taters, grilled chicken and Matzoh Our Pretty Friends = Debbie & Mark
Until my next update, I remain, your battery-powered correspondent.
LET'S MOVE IN MARCH! I have challenged y'all to get out there, lace up your sneakers and walk or jog (or the exercise of your choice) at least 30 minutes - five or six days a week in March. I'm doing this for charity and my prominent backside.
My mileage, while still over my usual monthly average is going nowhere fast. I can't even go down the 5 steps out of our motorhome without severe pain. My right knee looks like a balloon. I am afraid a physician may be required. I have not had an injury like this since 1984 in Taipei... and that required surgery (not performed in Taipei!). Not good news. How's it going for you? Please comment below.
Miles jogged for the day/month: 0/65
