Fourth of July

Los Angeles, California:  Our day was probably very much like yours - backyard barbeque with family and friends, followed by fireworks. The weather was just outstanding in Los Angeles, and everyone exercised early - and a lot.

Leo's little plastic pool was filled with water so he could "swim", but he had a lot more fun squirting everyone with the hose.

I baked a blueberry tart, Lenny made his famous Bean Sprout Salad and we all drove to Pasadena to celebrate the 4th of July with Lenny's sister, Colleen, Tyson and their new baby boy. Leo has a gorgeous cousin and - oh goodness, newborns are so teeny - and Leo is very gentle with him.

Tyson grilled burgers and brats, and we had a variety of side dishes. Everything was delicious and we thank Colleen and Tyson for a great holiday and for being brave enough to host the family with a new baby in the house.

Colleen gave birth six weeks ago and Lisa is due in about six weeks. Both ladies look fantastic!

After the party, Lisa and I came home so Lisa could go to bed, while DT, Lenny, Leo and Tyson went to The Rose Bowl to watch the fireworks show. Male bonding. And though it is now quite late, Dave and I are awake. Our Granddawg, Reese, is quivering and growling on the foot of our bed, quite distraught over all the fireworks still exploding around town.

Until my next update, I remain, your red, white & blue correspondent.
