Borrego Springs, California: Happy Valentine's Day to You! I love Valentine's Day. Yes, it's a sappy holiday, but it usually involves champagne and chocolate at our house, so that is always a good thing. Any holiday celebrating love is welcome! My parents met at a Valentine's Day dance in Salem, Oregon at the Crystal Ballroom in 1952. Speaking of Oregon... Happy 152nd Birthday to My Favorite State. February 14th is just a momentous day!
February 14th was gorgeous sunny day in Borrego Springs. It was 80° here, but Oregon celebrated her birthday with cold rain in the valley and feet of snow in the mountains. Typical.
After exercising, we went to the Borrego Springs Tennis Club to watch our friend from La Quinta, Debbie, play in a doubles match.

What pretty smiles from the winning team!
As I mentioned yesterday, Kathy & Woody arrived to Borrego Springs this afternoon. The last time was saw them, we were all in Phoenix on January 10th to watch the BCS Championship game. After the game, we have been wandering around the desert while Kathy & Woody have driven their motorhome all the way to Florida (and back) to visit their #2 daughter, Kari. (Kari has taken a 2-year job in Daytona Beach.)
We all enjoyed some Valentine's Day champagne outside on our patio while we heard about their trip - which sadly included a new engine for their RV! I made a pan filled with artichoke-heart-stuffed manicotti, a tossed salad and herbed focaccia bread. Dessert was an apple pie from Julian. Easy, delicious dinner.
Tomorrow we will golf and I promise photos with our old friends. And by old, I mean since college.
Until my next update, I remain, your bubbly correspondent.
RV PARK: The Springs at Borrego RV Resort & Golf Course. One of our very favorite RV parks on the west coast. Sites are large and each has a nice cement patio and picnic table. Cement 50 amp pull-throughs will full service. There are also different varieties of citrus trees all over, so you will never be lacking for a cocktail garnish in the winter. Slow wifi. Fabulous warm pool and many hot tubs - all from their own hot springs! Fitness center, library, community rooms. Regulation 9-hole golf course. Recycling. Huge fenced dog park! We are paying $64 per night for a "premium" site.
