Back to 50 amp

Borrego Springs, California:  Today our big excitement was to move from the campground at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, back to the fancy Springs at Borrego RV Resort. I will admit this past weekend was the perfect time to be in the state park. We were steps away from watching the wildflowers explode and the little streambed turn into a roaring creek after 1.57 inches of overnight rain. Waking up to snow-capped mountains was a huge treat as well.

But, I like my 50 amp life line. Our RV has every sort of system which allows us to be out in the middle of nowhere for days at a time, unaided. We have a generator, a 3000 watt inverter, solar panels, satellite internet, diesel water heater/furnace, the capacity to carry 90 gallons of fresh water and 150 gallons of diesel. (Seriously, there is barely room for my shoes with all the systems crammed-into this motorhome.)

Is it petty to mention it is impossible to use the clothes dryer unless we have 50 amp service (without firing-up the generator)?

Yes?

I thought so. Whatever. Can't help myself. I'm a RV Goddess.

At noon we left the state park and at 12:05 we had made it all the way across the booming metropolis of Borrego Springs to check into a premium pull-through campsite at The Springs of Borrego.

It has been a few years since I have posted photos of this lovely RV park, so I took my camera out for a stroll. In hindsight, I should have just used the photos from a few years ago because this park is so well-maintained - nothing has changed. See the sandy gravel next to our cement campsite? Everyday a camp host rakes a neat and tidy striped pattern into the gravel. Lemon, orange and tangerine trees are scattered amongst the campsites - help yourself!

The campsites are very long and each site has a concrete patio, with plenty of space between campsites. Each site has 30/50 amp electric, sewer, water, cable television and free wifi. Daily garbage/recycling pick-up at your RV! Someone comes by every day to give you a foot rub.

Okay. I'm kidding about the foot rub part.

This is a view of the back side of the club house. This structure houses the well-equipped fitness center, laundry, bathhouse, library and full professional kitchen with a dining hall/meeting room. The building wraps around the pool and hot tub area and acts as a wind buffer. This photo (above) shows the large communal hot tub.

In addition to the larger hot tub, the resort has three smaller (personal) hot tubs suited for two. The water comes from their own hot spring!

How about a dip in the lovely warm salt water pool? The resort offers several exercise classes and other assorted group exercise options daily. There is also a masseuse on-site for therapeutic or sports massage! This week the activity options include: Tai Chi, yoga, tennis clinic, water aerobics, evening campfire with hot dogs and S'mores, bird-watching walk, Qi Gong (?), line dancing, wine tasting, golf clinic, pilates, putting contest, pancake breakfast, star gazing program and a digital photography clinic.

I'm exhausted just typing that last sentence.

Even on vacation, the laundry piles up. Not a problem here. Plenty of washer/dryers. They also have a television in the laundry room if you are bored or - if you are really inspired - they have an exercise bicycle in the laundry center!

Here is the Club Room - today all prettied-up for an Italian dinner.

After all that exercise (or wine tasting), maybe you would like to relax.

Sit yourself down in one of the three shady ramadas situated along the 9/18th island green, with a view of people losing their golf balls in the water. Free entertainment!

The kiddies can fish - catch & release - for blue gill and catfish from the beach.

The Springs at Borrego is a very nice RV resort.

But don't tell anyone. It's difficult enough already to get a reservation here.

Until my next update, I remain, your 50 amp correspondent.

RV PARK: The Springs at Borrego RV Resort & Golf Course. One of our very favorite RV parks on the west coast. Sites are large and each has a nice cement patio and picnic table. Cement 50 amp pull-throughs will full service. There are also different varieties of citrus trees all over, so you will never be lacking for a cocktail garnish in the winter. Slow wifi. Fabulous warm pool and many hot tubs - all from their own hot springs! Fitness center, library, community rooms. Regulation 9-hole golf course. Recycling. Huge fenced dog park! We are paying $64 per night for a "premium" site.
