Borrego Springs, California: I never claim to be a genius or smart even, but this idea to avoid the beach because of predicted torrential downpours turns out to be one of our worst travel/weather decisions. It rained here again off-and-on all night!
The temperatures dipped quite a bit too because we woke to this scene:

It is only a 3 mile round-trip, but a great run because it is a slight uphill to the Visitor Center, which means a slight downhill back! Yeah! My favorite kind of run.

Plus, it is just awesome to run in a tee shirt in the desert, surrounded by snow-capped mountains... and jack rabbits bouncing around everywhere.
Life is good.
DT couldn't stand it - he had to hike back up to the oasis to see all the water in the canyon! I told him to have a good time. Dave didn't want to haul my gianormous camera with him, so he took the little credit-card sized pocket camera. He saw the falcon again and said there were suddenly a zillion wildflowers blooming and all the ocotillo (that seemed dead on Wednesday) are now fully leafed-out and blooming.

What a difference five days and about 2-inches of rain make!
While My Photographer Driver was hiking, I enjoyed a few quiet hours knitting and chatting with a few visitors who stopped by to admire the Magna Peregrinus. Since it is a three-day weekend, the campground is completely full and there are actual children in the campground - a rare sight for snowbirds.
I also ran into town for supplies. Amazingly enough, the frozen food section in the Borrego Springs Market is once again in full operation! Everything is so expensive at this little store. I paid $7.39 for a quart of mayo. It's the only grocer in town. We needed mayo. What's a girl to do?

RV PARK: Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. 30-amp power, water and electric paved pull-through sites. Bathhouse. Picnic tables & fire pits. Close to town, restaurants and Visitor Center. Many hiking trails. Good cell service. Dump station. Group camps. We paid $37 per night with tax and also $8 extra-vehicle fee for our tow car.
