The Country Life

Roseville, California: After breakfast with DT's Mom, we pointed the bus north to visit Brother Steve & Gina.

DT with his Mom

Brother Steve & Gina live on a gorgeous piece of property. They have a beautiful home, a huge garden, a pond, miles of white pasture fencing, an orchard and plenty of acreage for Our Largest Nephew, Doc, to roam.

DT with Doc

If you are new to this website... Doc is a horse.

A very spoiled horse. In this photo, Doc is wearing a mask to hide him from the hounding paparazzi keep the flies away from his eyes.

We had quite the menagerie tonight - a jackrabbit is hanging out in the pasture with Doc.

The geese are back... with their eight babies.

Yoo Hoo! Horse, geese & bunny in one photo! Gather the kiddies around your computer screen and see if they can spot all the animals. (Or... gather your reading glasses and see if you can spot all the animals.)

Don't forget Frack. Or is this Frick? I can't tell the two cats apart. Frick & Frack are supposed to be barn cats, but they seem to spend a considerable amount of time inside the house with Gina.

We enjoyed this pretty scene from the patio while sipping wine before dinner.

I could get used to this.

Sigh.

Did someone say dinner? Grilled wild-caught sockeye salmon, marinated in lemon and dill.

Grilled chicken thighs, marinated in garlic, rosemary, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt, pepper and white wine. Gina also served a massive green salad - made with greens from her garden! - with blue cheese and walnuts. For dessert we enjoyed strawberries from their neighbor! (The wine was from our neighbor in Oregon.) A lovely evening with family!

Until my next update, I remain, your rural correspondent.

Question: Do you have any four-legged family members?

RV Park: Thunder Valley Casino in Roseville, California. Don't faint. We are boondocking in a casino parking lot.
