Sweet Day in L.A.

Los Angeles, California: This morning we three went to brunch at Dusty's Bistro in Silver Lake. On Sundays Dusty's serves copious amounts of fresh-squeezed orange and strawberry juice mimosas. A great combination and a must-try! Dusty's is a French restaurant, but in the mornings - and especially on the weekends - they serve breakfast dishes from other parts of the world: Huevos Rancheros, breakfast burritos and tofu scrambles. The restaurant is always packed with local hipsters - DT and I were the oldest people in the joint.

We enjoyed delicious meals - but again, way too much food is served and we did not even begin to clean our plates. (The Mimosa glasses were drained.)

Time for a walk! We went to the Larchmont Farmer's Market and looked at beautiful local produce - strange cucumbers, multi-colored peppers, rotisserie chickens, fragrant spices, candles, fruits, dried fish and artisan cheeses. You will have to just believe me too, as I did not take even one photo!

The camera came out of the case when Lisa took us to the Crumbs Bake Shop. Cupcake shops are all the rage, aren't they? Probably a good thing. One little cupcake is certainly better than buying/eating an entire cake. The beautiful cupcakes in the display case were difficult to resist... and we bought two!

We are only human.

Look familiar? It didn't taste familiar.

This one was hard to resist

This evening Angela joined us for dinner to celebrate my 54th birthday. Yep folks, this Wednesday I am celebrating another Trip Around the Sun.

I chose the restaurant - one of my favorites in Los Angeles, Farfalla Trattoria. I think the girls were not overly excited with my choice as they dine here often. But you know what? It was my birthday, so I ruled. Every time I dine at Farfalla, my meal is wonderful. It is an Italian restaurant and I think you all know how much I enjoy Italian cuisine. I ordered the Chicken Piccata. It was P E R F E C T. Enough said.

Yes, this is just the first of my Birthday Celebrations, but being able to spend the weekend with my family meant the world to me. The Duck Victory was an added bonus, and every minute spent with Angela must add another hour to your life - that girl is so alive! Another great day.

Until my next update, I remain, your spinning correspondent.
