Shop. Run. Golf. Martini.

Borrego Springs, California:  My poor brother is virtually snowed-in at his home in Denver and we are enjoying 75-ish sun. (Sorry, Steve!)

I was up early this morning to visit the weekly Farmers Market in town.

Held at the park in the traffic circle, known as Christmas Circle, the market has several fruit and vegetable venders, bakers, a fish guy, a meat guy, jams, soaps and a few crafters. It also serves as a meeting place for locals and even though we are only infrequent visitors, we recognize several faces.

Since I do not plan to do much cooking over the next few days, I only bought broccolini (it keeps well), strawberries and six whole wheat bagels.

There are always good photo opportunities at a farmers market!

This gorgeous box of berries came home with me! The weather has been so warm, the California strawberry crop is already in full-swing.

After a stroll through the market, we went on jogs. DT had another conference call and then we played golf on the great regulation course here at The Springs in Borrego RV Resort.

The course has only 9 holes, so players go around twice. This is the first/tenth hole, a par 4 and I scored 7 both times. Dang.

Hoo Yah! Another photo of me modeling for a NIKE Golf ad golfing. Pretty impressive, eh? I beat DT today. He only scored 77 and I shot 123... or that's the way I like to think about golf. I get so much more bang for the buck. It is a gorgeous course, with fabulous views of the mountains at every turn - plus roadrunners and big turtles in the lakes.

You will have to excuse me now. I need to go see a man about a martini.

SLOGGER REPORT:  The plan was for me to run five miles this morning, but once My Driver Coach realized I was going to get up early to visit the Farmers Market, go for a run and play 18 holes of golf, he revised my schedule and had me do an easy four miles. Good idea, especially since we also had dinner reservations and apparently he prefers his dinner-date tbe awake. I am taking tomorrow as a rest day and my old knees are so thankful.

Until my next update, I remain, your over-exerted correspondent.

RV Park:  The Springs in Borrego RV Resort. This place has it all. Long pull-through and a few back-in sites. All full service. Fabulous pool and spring-fed hot spring hot tubs. Rec rooms, fitness center, organized outings and happy hours, regulation 9-hole golf course and the best dog run we have ever seen. We are paying $65 per night. Ouch.
