I would like to report Lisa is like Martha, but (as my sister says) that would be an insult to Lisa. Lisa is so creative and so organized – and Lisa does not have a full-time staff, nor any staff at all. When Leo asked to invite all his classmates to his birthday party and that a “camping” theme would be fun, Lisa was on top of the whole thing.
Leo, you totally scored in the Mother Department.
Lisa had a friend design a logo for the party and the straight-forward design was implemented into the invitation, cake, party favors and every other aspect of the party.
Quiet day before the party – lots of building with Duplo & Magna Tiles
Lucy’s “job” is to take everything out of Leo’s play kitchen and Leo’s play house. She is excellent.
Below are photos from Leo’s birthday party last Saturday in Los Angeles:
Dave and Lenny kept the kids busy/ran errands while Lisa and I prepped for the party. Party favors were water bottles (canteens) and “make-it-at-home” S’more kits.
Lisa and I prepared the food, but the desserts were farmed-out to a local bakery. I stole this photo from the bakery instagram feed – cake, cookies and mini S’mores cupcakes:
Team Leo posed for a photo before the party began.
Lenny, Geoff (Leo’s godfather), Gabe and Ryan (college friends)
Lisa and Angela (Leo’s godmother)
Kosher and vegan hot dogs were offered, along with a corn, tomato and basil salad, a dilled potato salad, and sliced watermelon. We were camping!
The party was held at Leo’s school, so there was a playground and a bounce-house ready for the guests. Other activities included face painting, temporary (Leo’s logo!) tattoos, slime-making and a water/sponge fight.

My Driver had the most important task – keeping the rosé flowing.
The cake was delivered to the Birthday Boy. We sang Happy Birthday.
Leo had a very fine time at his birthday party! He was so polite and thanked everyone for coming.
After the guests left and everything was tidied at school, we headed back to Lenny & Lisa’s house. Both families gathered for a nice dinner. Another great celebration! Happy 4th Birthday, Leo!

Guess who will have her first birthday on August 19th?
Until my next update, I remain, your celebratory correspondent.
