Joshua Tree National Park

Indio, California: Above is the view from the front window of our motorhome "camped" at the Motorcoach Country Club in Indio, California. Beyond the end of the canal, our view is of mountains. These mountains (San Bernardino, Cottonwood, Hexie and Eagle) hold on a National Treasures - Joshua Tree National Park. Every once in a while, DT and I like to drive up there and check it out. Today was one of those days.

We entered from the south, at the Cottonwood Visitor Center, and drove through the entire park. Unfortunately we were subject to long delays due to road repairs (we knew about this, but went anyway) and the winds were so strong, hiking was not very enjoyable... but we had a fine day anyway and I snapped 59 photos and will post many below.

The uncaptioned photos are of Joshua Trees, flora, fauna and amazing rock formations, and a little food thrown-in at the end, because that's the way I roll. The Joshua trees are just getting ready to bloom - their swollen pods are beginning to pop open to expose brilliant white blooms. The rocks look as if The Creator of the Universe had fun playing with blocks - an amazing park and another amazing day in Joshua Tree with Dave.

Our motorhome is down there, somewhere.

After spending the day in the park, we were starving and arrived to Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace after 3 o'clock for lunch/dinner. Hard to describe this place. They have live music several nights per week and they bring in pretty famous singers, but it's kinda a dive. A biker bar, though family-friendly. See? I told you it was hard to describe. The food is great and the beer is cold. After spending a day traipsing around boulders, that was all we needed. (Plus, I ran three miles early this morning!)

I went veggie - potato wedges with cheese, green onions - and for some strange reason, but it works - Ranch dressing. Imagine how delicious these would be if I hadn't asked them to hold the bacon?

Until my next update, I remain, your dusty correspondent.
