Polo Season Starts Soon

Indio, California:  With the polo season starting January 3rd, Dave and I made another scouting trip over to the Empire Polo Club to see the facility. Forget horses, the polo club was a beehive of activity. Gardeners and groundskeepers busy attending to the massive polo fields, and road crews installing traffic dividers and paving the roads inside the 78 acre club.

We did not see a horse today. Not one. Rose Garden at the end of one of the competition fields

Not sure why these are not statues of horses???

We drove around the grounds, walked around the grounds and could not find one thing out of place. The club seems ready to greet the crowds on January 3.

This is the field used for the Sunday matches we have attended. Nine football fields can fit inside a polo field.

After our tour, we had another great lunch at the on-site Tack Room Tavern... where (if you choose) you can belly-up to the bar on a saddle. Hey, why not?

Until my next update, I remain, your polo correspondent.
