Photos of Food

It's all I have today, Dear Readers. Photos of food. I spent the day glued to my iPad/iPhone watching the USATF Championship meet live from Des Moines, Iowa. (I know! Why is this track meet held in Des Moines, Iowa? They actually have the cajonesto bill themselves as "Track City, USA". As if.)

DT had a golfing date, so I had to update him via text messages with the activities in Iowa. The meet was postponed due to thunder. The stadium had to be evacuated. The winds were so severe, they actually ran the sprints in the "wrong" direction. This is a very rare occurrence and I can't think the racers were happy - though they certainly ran fast times. Check your local listings, as the meet will be televised Saturday and Sunday (and live on the internet at USATF.tv).

My only outing was to New Seasons Market - and they have wifi in the store, so I didn't have to miss even one moment of racing via my cell phone!

I purchased ingredients for a lovely Shabbat meal for my golfer.

Yes, a repeat from the other night. Our salad this evening was "left over" Bresaola over arugula, with parmesan and lemon.

Best part about Friday night is Challah...

...and the possibilities of French Toast in the morning.

A lovely 4 pound (smallest in the store) yard bird, roasted with thyme, rosemary and lemon.

Asparagus spears - roasted for 10 minutes at 400 degrees - drizzled with olive oil, Kosher salt and black pepper.

Yum.

Not to mention a little something recommended by Tucker, the my wine guy at New Seasons Market. Delish.

Not sure I ran enough miles today to dispel the calories consumed tonight... but I bet Ashton Eaton burned enough calories today to make up for my deficiency.

Until my next update, I remain, your photographic correspondent.
