Pac-12 Basketball Tournament

Las Vegas, Nevada: Did I fooled a few of you with this dateline? Did you think we were going to Los Angeles to visit Leo? Nope. We drove to Las Vegas to watch the Pac-12 Basketball Tournament. I mean, it's Duck basketball and it's in Las Vegas!

We drove (in our Honda) the back-route, through Needles, mostly avoiding the interstate freeways. It was an enjoyable drive, but was still 4.5 hours through the desert. We arrived just before 3p, and checked-into our room at the MGM Grand Hotel, which conveniently enough is hosting the tournament in their Grand Garden Arena.

We have a room in the "tower". It seems just like any hotel room, but the room is really large and the windows are so dirty, we are not sure what vista we overlook. Gross.

Guess who else is in Las Vegas this weekend?

No.

Not Jimmy Buffett.

Blurry cell phone photo of Cory, Mary & Me

Mary and Steve flew from Portland to watch the tournament - and visit their #4, Cory. Cory graduated from UNLV and works in the convention department of one of the fancy hotel in Las Vegas.

Again, our "seat arranger", DT, had us all right down in front, with a great view of the basket.

Or did DT just want this view? Hmmmmm.

We watched Utah beat Cal, then Oregon played the Washington Huskies. Washington fans are so classy. One guy wore a purple shirt that read OREGON SUCKS. Before the game, I told him he had to wear that shirt all night and he agreed.

So the Husky probably felt pretty stung the rest of the evening when we beat the Washington 80-77 in overtime. Luckily the defeated Huskies didn't decide to storm the court in protest, because the MGM hires crack security:

More basketball Friday. UCLA v Arizona at 6p pacific (Pac-12 Network), then Oregon v Utah at 8:30p pacific on ESPN.

I apologize in advance if Bill Walton is announcing the game.

LET'S MOVE IN MARCH! I have challenged y'all to get out there, lace up your sneakers and walk or jog (or the exercise of your choice) at least 30 minutes - five or six days a week in March. I'm doing this for charity and my prominent backside.

Since I am nursing a sore knee, DT suggested I alternate walking and jogging. I tried this routine this morning. The first two miles were pain-free, but during the third mile, the pain returned! Now I am on a complete three-days of walking-only course of therapy. There is never a problem clicking-off 10,000 steps on a pedometer in Las Vegas. It's practically a mile from the hotel lobby to our room. How's it going for you? Please comment below.

Pedometer: 11,277
Miles jogged for the day/month: 3/44

Until my next update, I remain, your GO DUCKS correspondent.
