In Boulder, with Rob

Golden, Colorado: My brother and Kris went back to work today. We so enjoyed spending the past four days with them and were so happy the kids gave up their weekend to spend time with their old aunt and uncle.

Snow continued all night. I looked out the window several times during the night to see white stuff accumulating on cars and roofs of RV's around us - and actually on the road. We had about five inches on our car (and picnic table) this morning.

I keep channeling palm trees, but all I get is snow. I just do not have enough clothing in this motorhome to help me survive this type of weather situation.

We ran a few errands this morning. Golden has all sorts of stores we needed to visit. They had a Bed, Bath and Beyond to replace our dead coffee maker and a Whole Foods to replace our empty fruit larder.

This afternoon we headed up to Boulder (in the Honda) to see our friend, Rob.

The road between Golden and Boulder, Colorado

Strangely enough, there is more snow in Golden than we found in Boulder. A lot more. It is like Golden is in some-sort of anti-RV vortex.

Tulips, trying to bloom, in Boulder

We drove through the University of Colorado campus (another campus with gorgeous red-stone buildings) and then had a walk through the pretty downtown Boulder pedestrian mall before meeting Rob.

Rob is an Oregonian, but attended Colorado State as an undergrad, then returned to the University of Oregon to get his Masters in sports marketing. DT recruited Rob to help with the Olympic Trials, and now Rob is working in marketing in Boulder.

Rob - showing his true colors in 2009, and with me in 2010. Rob is 16 inches taller than me.

We met Rob at The Bitter Bar (perfect Manhattan) and then walked a block to Brasserie Ten Ten for dinner. After countless dinners at Marche in Eugene, Rob knows just what we like.

DT and Rob - tonight

I can't write enough about how Dave and I enjoy spending time with interesting and brilliant young people. Their thoughts challenge us. Intrigue us. Stimulate us. Keep us current. Give us hope.

Until my next update, I remain, your frozen correspondent.
