Father’s Day wine tasting

The Lovely Lisa wanted to do something special for her Dad on Father's Day - plus we all wanted Lenny to "experience" Oregon - so, of course, we went wine tasting!

I know, I know... wine tasting seems a bit tame after watching the nude bicycle parade last night.

Ponzi Tasting Room

We drove our usual route. The first stop was to our neighbors at Ponzi Vineyards. Ponzi produces lovely pinot noir and DT is especially fond of their Dolcetto. We drink and serve Ponzi wines very often at our house.

Lenny and Lisa tasting the Ponzi Arenis

Last week, Ponzi's chef prepared a "salmon bake" dinner on the White House lawn for President & Mrs. Obama (and 1,998 of their closest friends). Ponzi wines were served! This week Ponzi's chef, Jason Stoller Smith, left Ponzi and is now the executive chef at historic Timberline Lodge. We are very happy for Jason, but very sad he will no longer be cooking just around the corner from us.

Our next stop was to Archery Summit Winery..

Archery Summit is also famed for their pinot noir wines. Their wines are aged in barrels resting in caves dug into the hillside.

Here we are - celebrating Father's Day at Archery Summit.

Our third, and final, winery of the day was Domaine Drouhin - also producers of fine pinot noir.

The last time we were here, the weather was spectacular and we could see Mt. Jefferson in the distance. Not today.

After visiting Domaine Drouhin, we had a lovely lunch in Dundee and suddenly it was time for Lisa & Lenny to catch their flight back to Los Angeles. A short - but very lovely - visit.

Until my next update, I remain, your Happy Father's Day correspondent.
