Departure Date Determined

Portland, Oregon:  Everything has settled into place over the past few days and we now have the official departure date to begin our journey back to SoCal: Monday - 31 October - Halloween!

As usual, the first few days of our trip will be spent two hours south of Portland (in Eugene) for the annual lube, oil, and filter portion of maintaining a 45-foot-long house on wheels. This service will occur at the Cummins Service Center (we have a Cummins 650hp engine). Our tech, Brian Van De Walker, will also get our dash air conditioning working again (again, again) and hook-us-up with a new DirecTV box as our last recorder box has decided to stop recording. (A girl just can't be expected to exisit without her favorite PBS Sunday night shows!)

This October has been one of the wettest in Oregon recorded history. Cold. Dark. Rain. Clouds. Wind. I just can't get warm, so it seems so odd that we would require an air conditioner during our ride south... but once we get near Bakersfield, it should be quite warm. It was 91 degrees in Indio today.

As soon as all systems are working again after our stay in Eugene, DT will point the bus south on I-5 and we will meander our way through California, stopping to visit family, and should reach our Perfect Paradise sometime before the tenth of November.

So, no food photos tonight. No grandbaby photos. Just DT and I rushing about organizing and taking "stuff" to the motorhome in the storage garage. We are so experienced, we have it down to three trips:

First trip: Recon. Inventory.

Second trip: Bring everything (clothes, golf clubs and food) to the motorhome.

Third trip: Last minute items, tow car and ourselves.

We've been doing this a very long time now.

Until my next update, I remain, your busy correspondent.
