Mesquite, Nevada: A Happy Mother's Day to all my Motherly Readers! I hope you had a very lovely day.

I became a Mother in Manila, The Philippines. Possibly that is why I was pining for Filipino food last night? And it was certainly appropriate to enjoy Filipino Fried Rice for breakfast this morning. Always one of our favorite breakfasts - today's version was extra special because I used left-over chicken and sauce from last night's Adobo - along with a scrambled egg. This would give us a lot of energy, because we had a noon tee-time at
Conestoga Golf Club.

Conestoga Golf Club is a gorgeous course - carved out between gullies and canyons in the rocky mesas west of Mesquite, Nevada. There is a huge Conestoga wagon in front of the clubhouse and the 150-yard markers are wagon wheels. The 18 holes meander through at least two housing developments, one of which is
Sun City Mesquite. Conestoga is a very long and very difficult course, and it was 100°. We played alone and our green fees were $79 each, which included a cart and range balls.

Hole #2. Yep, it really looks like this. I teed-up a seven iron and hit the green.
Then I three-putted.

So many of the holes were just stunning! I can't imagine the price to build this course - with all the hill-carving, miles of cart paths and several long tunnels drilled through the rocky hills. You must take a cart here as some holes are forever-away from the next. A few uphill climbs on the cart path were so steep, our water bottles fell out of the cup holders! Trained chipmunks visited our golf cart at every hole, looking for snacks.

Towering mesas as a backdrop while putting! Really a fun course and I recommend Conestoga Golf Club if you are a long hitter. I only had two pars and they were both on Par-3's. If you hit a ball into the stuff, you should just leave it there instead of risking meeting a scorpion or rattle snake.
After our round, we were greeted by the bag drop attendant with an icy cold wet face cloth - mango scented! Nice touch, especially since the restaurant/bar had already closed (at 3:30??).
All-in-all, a very enjoyable Mother's Day!
Until my next update, I remain, your Three-Putting-Mother correspondent.
