Bakersfield, California: It poured rain overnight, but we woke to sunny skies! Time to hit the highway! Time to point the Magna Peregrinus south towards Glendale, Arizona! We traveled along the extremely bumpy and extremely congested Highway 99 and have stopped for the night in Bakersfield.
A few years ago, one of my long-time readers, Court W., suggested we try the Bakersfield RV Resort next time we are in the area (and we do pass through here quite often), so we did and we just love this RV park. The sites are long enough that we don't have to unhitch the Honda and the owners and staff are so friendly.
And due to all the rain SoCal has been receiving - we have a lake-side campsite!
Plus - we are just across from the pool (but it is only 58 degrees, so I don't think we will be taking the plunge).
Bird of Paradise! In December! Oregonians get way too excited over stuff like blooming flowers in December, don't we?
I suppose Bakersfield RV Resort would just be another every-day RV Resort with a convenient location, if it were not for the fabulous facilities. Pool, hot tub, great work-out room, free wifi, club house, great bathhouse, laundry and a small store - and they have a great bar/restaurant on-site with a very lively Happy Hour! Woo Hoo! Just what a RV Goddess needs after sucking down vats of wine spending the holidays with the relatives in Merced - more booze! I only went over to check-it-out for you, Dear Reader. Sampling the bartenders ability for martini making. I don't want to recommend a place with a bad martini, do I?It was perfect. Icy cold glass. Frozen Tanqueray gin.
We did not dine in the restaurant, but came home to a pre-prepared-frozen-at-home meal of organic low-fat Swedish Meatballs over organic brown basmati rice with steamed organic broccoli and organic tomato salad.How many times can a person actually type "organic" in one sentence?
