Back to the Desert

Indio, California: Leo does not like goodbyes. He will not give us goodbye kisses or hugs. We just have to kinda walk out the door like we are going out on an errand.

Leo sat on the bed in the guest room and watched us pack our bags.

And I'm pretty sure there was one last tickle-attack from Bubba before we hit the road back to Indio.

We had to get back - Dad and Mary were coming for a two-day visit!

The view from our campsite in the Motorcoach Country Club

By the time we arrived back to our tidy casita and spotless motorhome, our atomic clock had received the signal from Fort Collins, Colorado! Everything was in working order. Knock on wood - this is a rare situation in the RV world.

Nearly every evening in the desert we are treated to a gorgeous sunset!

Dad and Mary arrived and we talked for hours and we fed them well. They are Seahawk fans, so of course the game was on the television.

DT grilled a butterflied chicken (that I had marinated overnight in white wine, lemon juice, lemon zest, chopped rosemary, salt & pepper). It was so yummy. We also had mushroom dressing, steamed green beans, grilled asparagus spears and a cucumber salad. Fruit for dessert.

DT really is a grill master!

And... I baked a few cookies - from frozen dough balls I made a few weeks ago in Oregon. I used my regular Big Fat Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, but took it up a notch by browning the butter and sprinkling sea salt flakes over the cookies before baking. Ridiculous. My Dad just loves chocolate chip cookies.

Dave and I had a great weekend with my Dad and Mary - we are all caught up and will see them again very soon.

Until my next update, I remain, your happy correspondent.
