Borrego Springs, California: Yes, Dear Reader, our engine did start and we did, indeed, hit the road... all the way to Borrego Springs... which is only about an hour from Indio. It may be an hour, but Borrego Springs is another world. It is like traveling back in time, except with full-service 50 amp campsites and wifi.

We arrived to The Springs at Borrego RV Resort mid-afternoon. We have stayed here many times before and simply love this RV park. Yes, the sites are long. Yes, the place is pristine. Yes, everyone is friendly and they have a regulation golf course... but we love their hot tubs, heated with water from their own hot springs.
There is just something magical about this little town, but I've never really been able to put my finger on the quality that compels us to return again and again, year after year. The first time we visited, we had plans to stay a few days and we stayed a week. The second time, we came for a week and stayed for two. And so it goes. In a town with a handful of restaurants and a grocery store that makes a 7-11 seem gourmet?
There is just something about Borrego.

Speaking of Leo. The Little Genius can now locate his eyes, ears, nose, mouth and belly. Harvard!
Until my next update, I remain, your Borrego Springs correspondent.
RV PARK: The Springs at Borrego RV Resort & Golf Course. One of our very favorite RV parks on the west coast. Sites are large and each has a nice cement patio and picnic table. Cement 50 amp pull-throughs with full service. There are also different varieties of citrus trees all over, so you will never be lacking for a cocktail garnish in the winter. Wifi. Fabulous warm pool and many hot tubs - all from their own hot springs! Fitness center, library, community rooms. Regulation 9-hole golf course. Recycling. Huge fenced dog park! We are paying $69 per night for a "premium" site.
