Garage Band + We are Home

La Quinta, California: A few wild and crazy days in Merced, celebrating Brother Billy's 70th. Friends and family gathered from around the country. Bill and Ginger (her birthday is Tuesday) hosted about 30 guests. They served a big Mexican-inspired slider-bar, and set up the band in the garage. (Neighbors were either warned, invited, or played bass). All Taylor Brothers showed up, and their Family-of-Friends seriously rivals ours. We have known Bill and Ginger's posse forever.

Getting the band back together has been an on-going theme for Bill's birthday and his friends really rallied for his 70th. I didn't take a lot of photos, but I do have a three-minute video to share. Brother Billy is on the drums. His grandson, Ian, makes a cameo appearance, as does one of the dogs...

Long-time friend, and long-time BobTone band-member, Steve Johnson, stars in this video (left of Billy, in ball cap). Steve came in from Los Angeles for this (one-night-only) gig tonight.

It's a garage band of old blues dudes who seriously still rock. (Alas, no saxophone in this set.)

Happy Birthday, Billy. We love you so much!

After an overnight in Bakersfield at the Orange Grove RV Park (our usual spot; tons of oranges - none quite-yet ripe), we made it home today around 2p and had the bus unpacked before four o'clock. Pretty easy when you arrive to your RV (two weeks ago) with a carry-on sized suitcase. So happy to be home. So happy to have our engine repaired.

Only a few minutes to get situated. DT has invited his golfing buddies for dinner Wednesday!

Until my next update, I remain, your "home again" correspondent.
