Links at Bodega Harbour

Bodega Bay, California: Baby, it's cold outside! A super shock to a system. Two blankets on the bed last night and the little space heater this morning. Normal bay fog this morning as well. Temperatures were promised to reach 58° and I think they did.

Our plan for the day was golf The Links at Bodega Harbour on the south end of town (we are camped on the north end of town), and stop for fish & chips at Fishertarian on the way home... thus late lunch/early dinner out meant no cooking/dishes. This genius plan was nixed when we drove past Fishertarian yesterday to find a completely slammed and tight parking lot with a big NO RV PARKING sign. Rude! No unhooking our rig and driving it up to the golf course. I ordered an Über to show-up at 10:15 this morning and someone magically appeared. (Bodega is seriously off any path, beaten or otherwise.)

So pretty!

The course was very pretty, set up above the ocean and the bay, sometimes surrounded by gorgeous homes, other times surrounded by gorgeous grasses and wildflowers. We could often hear waves and barking sea lions. We were paired with a single - a chef from Marin County - prepping for a charity tournament. Chris was a big hitter and a very nice man. Later, we were joined by another single, Dylan - another big hitter. His girlfriend was riding with him in the golf cart, reading a book. Everyone was nice and jovial, especially since the foursome in front of us was as slow as Los Angeles traffic. Ugh.

Speaking of pretty...

The course was a bit rough around the edges, with bumpy greens. Guess we are too spoiled by our club? Two holes are accessed only by walking. Carts are left in a parking spot, and you schlep your clubs for two holes. Weirdest damn thing ever. Never seen this before. Dave thinks maybe they were recently added holes? Who knows? The girlfriend and I stayed with the carts while the boys headed off towards the sound of crashing waves. They did return and were smiling, so all was well.

Beautiful view west from the 18th hole

Though I never hope to play here again, it was a fun day - mostly because of the company - and the weather cooperated. It didn't cooperate enough for me to remove my jacket, but it wasn't too cold, nor too windy. Win-Win! To return to our campsite, this time I ordered a Lyft and the driver arrived three minutes later. Another win-win.

Just to make it a trifecta, the Mexican restaurant, La Bodeguita, basically in the parking lot of this RV park had very good reviews, so we walked up there tonight - so no one in this RV needed to cook or do dishes.

Dinner Special: Halibut tacos in a mango salsa with black beans.
DT ordered the Beef & Chicken Burrito with a ton of veg.
This burrito was a big as Dave's forearm.

All the reviews mention the delicious salsa served by the restaurant - with a note they sell their homemade salsa (with roasted tomatoes) in two-cup portions. Really nice meal and not too expensive for this town. NOTE: they take reservations, but probably none needed on a weekday? Credit cards accepted. Beer & wine only. Family-run. Great service.

We continue north tomorrow, with a fun adventure planned.

Until my next update, I remain, your golfing correspondent.

Campground Information: Bodega Bay RV Park - Long gravel pull-throughs, front/back-ins. Full hookups, laundry, bathhouse, free (tengo) internet, small store, Mexican restaurant and coffee shop next door. We are paying about $85 per night.
