Day 4: Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: The Bliss docked at sunrise in Puerto Vallarta.

Today was the day to see Brother Steve and Kris. They are staying about 90 minutes north of PV, so we met them in Sayulita, a cute surfing town between the two cities. We were going to take the bus, but the tourist office advised against it. Taxi's don't like to go to Sayulita as it is in a different state (not sure of the rules about this), and everyone said to just Uber, so we did. We rendezvoused at the famous SAYULITA sign in the town square and posed for photos before heading off for lunch on the beach.

Lunch at the Beach

We dined at Don Pedro's on the beach, just because we had lunch here two years ago with Dave's roommates and it was good. Today we had grilled mahi mahi tacos.

Tres tacos

After lunch we walked around the beach and through the colorful streets of Sayulita. We were able to find the famed tree that hosts numerous iguanas - and one jumped/fell to the ground while we were there and hopped down the street. Goodness, they are really large reptiles in this neck of the woods - it was two feet long - but he wasn't even a big one! Photos of the tree do not really work. Staring at the branches, it is nearly impossible to spot an iguana. But when you do, magically more seem to show themselves. Amazing how something larger than a chihuahua can hide so well. Completely camouflaged. So... per usual, you only get photo of tacos on this blog. Enjoy the fish taco photo, as our Uber driver told us, some Mexicans in the south eat iguana. He said they taste just like chicken, with a huge grin on his face.

It was so special and coincidental we were in the same place as family/friends again, and we had so much fun hearing about their long-term rental on the beach a bit north of Sayulita. If you can work from home, why not get out of freezing Colorado for a few weeks? How many times have we sailed into Puerto Vallarta just to never go into town, but off to see friends? Dave's roommate once, the Bumfuzzles another. Now family. (Side note: Randomly, Dave's college roommate was in PV today, but we didn't get to see him.)

Our ship is going to leave port in a bit. I'm sure we will go to dinner and a show of some sort, but I want to post this blog before I lose internet service on my hotspot and not rely the ship's wifi. If anything more exciting than a martini happens, I will report on tomorrow's journal.

Until my next update, I remain, your happy correspondent.
