Borrego Springs, California: I am nearly giddy over this weather! Snow? What snow? The sun is shining and it was just over 70 degrees in Borrego Springs. We went golfing!
You just gotta love a campground with a regulation golf course.It's like heaven, except in SoCal.
Imagine golfing in the desert, with gorgeous mountain views, and $35 green fees.Like I said. Heaven.
Hole #9 is the Signature Hole. Golfers must drive over water, then lay-up to hit over even more water - to land on an island green. Mean. Really mean.The lake is a virtual golf ball donation center.
I can't give you my actual score (though I had two pars!), as we only played 17 holes. Quite odd, but a foursome ahead of us were SO SLOW, they were actually backing-up the entire course to such a comic level, we jumped ahead of them - skipping a hole... and we are pretty sure they didn't even notice. I can't recall ever doing this before, but the quite elderly group had held-up the course so much that we saw no golfers FIVE holes ahead. I could say the slow-moving golfers were old, but the slow-moving old golfers were golfing and not watching television, so I won't chastise them.
I can chastise My Driver.
Again, we had a Long Drive Contest and AGAIN I am the winner of $20. Big Whooping Deal. I have yet to receive the twenty bucks I won from our last driving contest in Tubac. Again, winning $20 from a person who is a signer on your joint checking account doesn't seem to be any sort of prize.

Blurry iPhone PhotoWe went into town for dinner at Carlee's Place and enjoyed a vegetarian appetizer - Irish Nachos (think potatoes instead of tortilla chips) - enough food for four people. Carlee's is a great place to eat, meet locals, have a drink and relax. Can't miss the restaurant, as it sits just-off the main circle in town.

RV PARK: The Springs at Borrego RV Resort & Golf Course. One of our very favorite RV parks on the west coast. Sites are large and each has a nice cement patio and picnic table. Cement 50 amp pull-throughs with full service. There are also different varieties of citrus trees all over, so you will never be lacking for a cocktail garnish in the winter. Wifi. Fabulous warm pool and many hot tubs - all from their own hot springs! Fitness center, library, community rooms. Regulation 9-hole golf course. Recycling. Huge fenced dog park! We are paying $82 per night for a "premium" site, nightly rate.
