Catch Up

Tubac, Arizona: Another really cold day and another day spent working. We went out for a lovely lunch at one of the best restaurants in the area, Elvira's. Though we have only dined here three times, we really encourage you to try Elvira's if you ever find yourself in Tubac. Which, I hope you do. First, the restaurant has such interesting and different decor and the menu is filled with luscious moles and unusual, yet very traditional and authentic, Mexican dishes.

Breakfast of Champions

Their margaritas are divine.

We shared a small appetizer of blistered Shishito peppers with garlic, lemon juice and (unusual) soy sauce. The peppers were not very hot - but left a little numbness.

I ordered another appetizer for my lunch - potato taquitos (little tacos)... which, sadly, is the same thing I order every time we visit this restaurant. I rarely find potato tacos on a menu and love them so. (See my Potato Taco recipe here.) DT had a chicken mole. No leftovers.

More work in the afternoon and a report from Taylor Manor in Oregon. Remember when DT was home last month and we had a leak via the gutter/roof and the ceiling of our covered front porch collapsed?

I am happy to report the repair has been completed. Not only has it been completed, our covered porch now has bead board!

The ceiling still needs painting and we now realize we need new lamps, new speaker covers (we have music piped-out to the porch via a whole-house speaker system) and, naturally, the contractor found more rot in the pillars... always something. This porch will look like it is in Alabama by the time we are finished. Y'all can stop by and I will serve y'all up some Sweet Tea.

Moving on to something really important... Kathy & Woody's #2, Kari, told me about the Yellow Dog Project. This organization is trying to get the word out that a yellow ribbon tied on the leash of a dog means "do not approach".

Whether the dog is ill, scared, in-training, reactive... whatever. If you don't want people approaching you/your dog while out on a walk, a yellow ribbon should be the signal to all. If you see a leash with a yellow ribbon tied to the leash, keep a wide path. Spread the word.

Thank you very much.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and the 38th (or so, we are not quite exactly sure) DT and I have shared together. We will do what so many other couples do on the most romantic day of the year - golf! The weather is improving to 60+ degrees tomorrow!

Until my next update, I remain, your repaired correspondent.
