Casita Update

Staying home for a few weeks is allowing me to check many boxes on my to-do list. My closet is completely organized and Goodwill is opening a specialized branch outlet for short fat women who like black pants and pink shirts. (Oh my goodness, guess what I am wearing right now?) I have finished needlepointing the ring pillow for Lisa's wedding and it is being finished this week.

And we have been entertaining! Pretty much three or four nights a week, we have invited long-neglected friends/relatives to dinner here, or have taken friends out. So much fun catching-up, and I so enjoy the menu planning and cooking. The weather has cooperated enough that we have been able to dine outdoors - we even used our air conditioning THREE DAYS IN A ROW!

Our contractor, Arnold Castro, has sent more photos from our casita build-out at the Motorcoach Country Club in Indio, California. Pretty much everything is finished - except for the brick on the exterior. Huge delay in acquiring the brick we chose, so another brick had to be selected and ordered and this brick is also delayed. Soon!

We are leaving for Indio on September 24th - only one month from now - for the wedding and the winter. We have plans to actually use/drive our RV this winter to travel around the southwest, though I suspect a certain little someone will keep us returning often to SoCal.

This little driveway on the right can hold a car, but its primary purpose is to hold a golf cart. Arnold and I are discussing the landscaping plan now. We are serious about the University of Oregon, because we are only planting yellow flowers on our site.

Woo Hoo - the cabinets are stained and the granite has been installed! Looks like I forgot to choose hardware for the kitchen cabinets and drawers. Oops. I will get right on that.

The granite has also been placed over the fireplace area. A television will rise out from behind the fireplace. Wooden cabinet doors will go over the openings on either side of the fireplace. Won't we have fun keeping Leo out of all this stuff - not to mention the lake.

Until my next update, I remain, your busy correspondent.
