Bakersfield RV Resort

Bakersfield, California: Luckily for us, the Tule Fog did not appear again this morning and we were able to hit the road south on the overly potholed Highway 99. When we travel on some California roads, it is like our fancy-schmantzy RV air bag suspension system is nonexistent. We porpoise up and down. Everything rattles. We bounce. Horrid. Since we are now officially California land owners and pay California property taxes, don't I officially have the right to complain?

We stopped in Bakersfield, which means we still have 250 miles before we reach Indio, California and our plot-o-land. Hopefully, tomorrow.

So we are parked - well before sunset - at the Bakersfield RV Resort. Very nice park, with a fun onsite bar/restaurant, a great fitness center, pool and hot tub.

It was 64° when we checked-in and the first time I have been outdoors with a coat or sweater for several months. Glorious! Tonight will be the first night of our trip it will not freeze overnight. We are truly getting closer to lovely weather!

Little hints all over the place.

After several days of eating too well, I took it down a notch today and put a pot of beans in the crockpot (set in the sink!) during our drive today. Cannellini beans, onions, garlic, celery, basil, parsley and kale bubbled away in veggie stock, creating a filling - yet healthy and fat free - meal for us this evening.

Until my next update, I remain, your warm correspondent.
