Bellagio (Lake Como), Italy: First, Happy Birthday to The Lovely Lisa!
Martin and Shirley spent the day at the pool and Dave and I spent the day on the ferry. We rode from Bellagio, on the "slow boat" to Como, had lunch, and then rode the "slow boat" back to Bellagio. The weather was perfect, we enjoyed gorgeous views of gorgeous villas and had ourselves a wonderful time.

This is George Clooney's villa on Lake Como. It is very nice, and boy was I surprised when I blew-up the photo to have a closer look:
After arriving in Como (about 2.5 hours later!) we had a walk around town and then had lunch on the square in front of the church.

...hopped-back on the ferry
...and arrived back to Beautiful Bellagio 2.5 hours later
...when we dressed for dinner, met Shirley & Martin at the dock
...and took another ferry to Varenna
...for a meal with their friends from England, Barry & Sarah.We dined at an extraordinary roof-top restaurant called La Vista. The food was some of the best we have had on this trip. Very innovative, yet the chef relied on Italian favorites.
Everyone had a great time - Barry kept us in stitches with hilarious stories - and I had gorgonzola ice cream for dessert:
I am going to guess the accompanying cake (fresh pears and sliced almonds as well) was made with figs (?), and the ice cream had quite an unexpected flavor - but exactly what you would expect gorgonzola ice cream to taste like. Hard to describe. I would go back to this restaurant every week if we lived on Lake Como... which, sadly, we do not.Pedometer: 10,875 steps. It was really difficult to cover my desired 10,000 steps today (since five hours of the day were spent on my tuchas on the boat). Just barely, but mission accomplished.
