TrackTown, USA: (Some people call this town Eugene, Oregon.) I didn't blog last night, mainly because I had one bar of LTE cellular service and my hotspot was nearly laughing at me, but also because we didn't do a dang thing. We only drove 20 miles north of Coos Bay! Our reservation for a campsite and a reservation for a rental car didn't start until Tuesday, so we needed to linger one more night. Dave had heard of a fantastic campground in Winchester Bay, so we gave it a try, stopping at a fresh fish stand for two nice red snapper fillets.
Winchester Bay RV Resort was a very nice campground, with every amenity, but as soon as we set-up camp the fog rolled in and the wind began to howl. I mean really howl. So cold! It was early afternoon, and we had no wifi, so just puttered around. Later, My Driver, who can't sit still, went for a windy walk. He saw a few geese with chicks.

The red snapper was dredged in flour with salt, white pepper, onion and garlic powders, then sautéed in butter and olive oil - in a pan already used to sauté minced garlic. The green patty pan squash from Gina's garden was also sautéed in olive oil and a few slivers of roasted red pepper were added for a bit of color... the plate was a bit beige. (Not very pretty, but tasty.)

The two nice fish fillets and a big chunk of smoked tuna tab came to $9. The fish monger even put it all in a bag of ice, telling me I could use the ice for our drinks later. (What? A fishy martini does not sound good.) We watched the news from Los Angeles (our family are safe), and watched the Dodgers win again. Giants had the day off.
When we woke this morning, there wasn't a breath of wind! The birds were singing. Dave hopped on his bicycle and rode it out to the end of the county park road - about 4 miles - and snapped this photo of the dunes.

I did not walk, choosing to remove everything from under the kitchen sink as we had discovered a small drip in the pipes. Fun times. I found the leak but could not get the connection to budge. No worries, Brian is coming this week to do a few things for us and he is STRONG. I may not be able to twist a plumbing connector, but I am smart enough to simply move the trash can under the trap, so any drop (it's just little drops when using water, not a flood) will just go in the trash can. (I know, I know, alert the Noble Prize Committee.) Anyway, hopefully not too many dishes while we are in Eugene!
After reaching Eugene, DT dropped me off at the airport, I picked up the rental car, and he was just putting out the slide room when I arrived. (Our new VISA cards were waiting for us at the Eugene RV Park office, so we are back in business.)
I will be reporting from the track daily, so stayed tuned for fun and exciting college athletics action!
Until my next update, I remain, your happy correspondent.
