McMinnville, Oregon: Back to the place of my birth, oh so long ago. So very long ago. We had two objectives for the day. 1) pick up our rental car and 2) meet Tamra and Steve for lunch. Both things were accomplished (I took an Uber to the rental car place and fetched DT), but Tam and Steve had other plans for us after our lovely lunch at The Dundee Bistro. My favorite item to order off the Dundee Bistro menu is their halibut fish & chips, but this item is no longer available. Our server said halibut became so expensive, they could no longer feel comfortable charging $36 for fish & chips. I understand... but how can they feel comfortable selling a steak for over $49? (No one asks me.) Our bright Tamra wanted the steak salad from the set-price lunch menu, but they would not sell it to her without the rest of the menu (appetizer, steak salad, dessert and a glass of pinot noir for $70), but she ordered it anyway. We shared the appetizer (focaccia), Tamra had the steak salad, I had the glass of pinot noir, and we all shared her dessert. Perfect! The rest of us had lovely meals as well (supplemented with Tamra's full-meal-deal).

But our day was not over. Our friends (since we lived in Taipei in the 80's) took us up the hill above Dundee to Furioso Vineyards. Tamra and Steve are members at this gorgeous winery and we sat outside in the warm sunshine, shared a bottle of rose, and caught-up.

Dave and I stopped to my favorite grocery store in McMinnville after our afternoon rendezvous with our old friends. I picked up a few things to tide us over for the next few days, but I only needed cilantro for our meal tonight.

Dave golfs tomorrow and I do not. I am so excited to have a day "at home" alone.
Until my next update, I remain, your wine-tasting Correspondent

Good friends are so special !
Looks like a lovely day. 🥳
We seek out a Roth’s whenever we are in the area. I commented to a clerk that Roth’s stores stand up to Wegmann’s stores on the east coast for all things such as quality, variety, and service. The employee responded that they try to emulate the Wegmann vibe.
