Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands: The ship came close to civilization about 7:30a, so I was able to get my hot-spot connected to wifi to update posts from Friday and Saturday. Though warm, it was very cloudy when we docked at 8:30a.
Dave and I had coffee in our room and met the kids on the dock at 10:20a for a short walk to board a tourist craft built for snorkelers and swimmers.

After boarding, the fun crew took 44 of us to a little cove where we could swim and snorkel. One crew member lead a group swim, as she knew where all the rays and turtles liked to hang-out. Even from the boat, we could see so many turtles surfacing for air.

After an hour in the kinda-warm water, the boat next took us to a nice beach where it was easy to jump off the craft for a swim. Crystal clear turquoise water! Lucile and Bubba built sand castles.
After an hour on the beach (I stayed in the water and Leo kept jumping off the boat, getting back on the boat, rinse and repeat…), we headed back to the dock. Music was pumped up and rum punch was flowing. it was a fun mid-day activity and quite a lot of exercise for us all.
Some boat party shots:

Though we had been to St. Thomas before, it had been a while. We went into town in the afternoon. It was a Sunday and it was New Year’s Eve. Many shops and restaurants were closed or were closing at 3p. No tanzanite jewelry for us!
We had plans for New Year’s Eve. First, we wanted to have Fettuccine Alfredo - a family tradition - and I wanted to stay awake until 9p. Lofty goals. We met at 6p in the Crooner’s Bar. Fancy dress code tonight.

This photo was taken just before a server spilled an entire glass of red wine on our cocktail table. Mind you, this wine was not even being served to our family - it was meant for another table. It exploded over us, landing even in my martini, on the sleeves and hem of my (thankfully black) dress and dripped down my legs, puddling in my shoes. There must have been a quart of wine in that glass! Dave’s slacks! The poor server was horrified, swabbing us with cocktail napkins to no help. The family headed off to dinner. I headed off to a ladies room to clean up before joining everyone else for our traditional delicious pasta.

Lucy and Lisa wanted to try their luck at Animated Movie Trivia, so we all joined their team after dinner. They did not win, but it was fun. DT and I scored high on the Mickey Mouse, Bambi, and Pinocchio questions, but were no help in the more recent films. Sadly, we could only name six of the seven dwarfs.

There was a bit of entertainment provided by one of the guests this evening on the dance floor. Lucile danced with this golden woman for a while later.
Never a dull moment on a cruise ship.
Lisa made it til nine. Dave and I went back to our room by 10p. The last we heard from Lenny was at nearly 11 o’clock. He was with the kids on the pool deck for a rock violin concert.

Happy New Year to you all!

Wow!! That all looks like fun!
I feel bad for the waiter! I once had a porterhouse steak dropped in my lap at Morton’s Steak House! Mortified did not describe our waiter. Gave me card to his cleaners to clean my outfit. Your pics are great and glad you are having a great family vacation.
