Day 3: At Sea

Cruising in the Caribbean: Today was a scheduled sea day. Happily Dave and I slept well and deep (like being rocked in a cradle on a cruise ship) and only woke when coffee was delivered to our cabin at 8:30a. Yeah, us. Overnight we moved ahead another hour, so I suppose that meant we woke at 4:30a California time? Boo, us? Dave worked out and I read before meeting Lenny and Leo for brunch in the Amalfi dining room. Lisa and Lucile dined in the buffet.

Dave reported during his jog he did not see even one empty lounge chair by the pool. On sea days it’s every passenger on alert to find their own spot of refuge.

After brunch, the boys played some-sort of Bingo game in a lounge, and Lucile competed in a photo scavenger hunt. Lucile won!

Later we gathered for afternoon tea and chose our snorkeling and beach day excursion on St Thomas. Very excited to get off the boat tomorrow. After tea, Lucy and I rode the elevator to our room with a young man. He said he was from Florida and I said we were from California, which caused him to smile and comment he heard we were from the North Pole. Lucile beamed!

Dinner tonight was in the Amalfi dining room. Again, great service and such a varied menu. Dave ordered petit fours for dessert and they must have brought him a dozen. Leo to the rescue! But the main event of the evening was the Father-Daughter Dance at 8:30p. I thought that seemed a bit late for little ones to stay up, but there were at least 30 little girls with their dads on the main dance floor in the three-story atrium on the Enchanted Princess.

Leo asked his mom to dance during the second song. They went out to the floor and an elderly woman told Lisa the only reason their mother-son duo were allowed on the father-daughter dance floor was because they were from the North Pole. Too funny!

The 4L’s stayed out past ten o’clock at a trivia contest, but we went to bed. Big day in St. Thomas tomorrow. Assuming we dock!

Until my next update, I remain, your still ship-bound correspondent.
