Los Angeles, California: Today is the winter festival at the kid's school, so DT and I drove over to Los Angeles to see Leo play his guitar in the middle school band, and watch Lucy dance with the middle school dance class and also perform with the pom squad (something like cheerleading?). Of course, since this is Los Angeles, the winter celebration is held outdoors. It was 88 this afternoon, but it did get a little chilly as the evening wore on.
QUICK CHANGE OF SUBJECT: Speaking of warm weather, we already have fruit on our tomato plants!

Besides the performances, there was a burger, hotdog, or grilled cheese station - along with absolutely delicious and crispy French fries... (but we were going to sushi after so did not eat). There was a bouncy castle, a booth to "Soak a Senior" (dunk tank thingy aimed at 12th graders, not old people - ha ha ha, but maybe that could also be fun?), a raffle to win a chance to throw a (whipped cream) pie in the face of the teacher of your choice, Menorah making booth, crafts for sale, and then all the usual playground equipment one would find at a school. Though only the middle and high school kids were performing, many elementary school kids were there with their families enjoying the festivities.
Lucy dance performance was to ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU. Every girl had a character: Santa, Mrs. Claus, elf, tree, etc. Lucile was a present and she was carried by an elf and placed under the tree!

Well... one of his guitars. The band played several songs from the 90s and I was clueless - but many of the toddlers were dancing. Leo's godmother, Angela, was at the show with Bryan and (no longer a baby) Sebastian. (Lucile had changed into her pom uniform.)

We left when the "pie in the face" situation began. Wow, what a mess! And the howls from the students when their (beloved) teachers were pied. After sushi (where we dined outdoors!), we went back to the house and exchanged Hanukkah gifts a few days early. I think everyone was happy with their gifts. Dave and I received several gifts, but two were very special. Lisa hand-painted a mug for her Dad and Lucy hand-painted a cookie jar for me! So surprised. Yeah, I cried. Not only is is gorgeous, the jar itself is quite substantial (gonna need to get baking!) and the lid has an airtight silicone seal to keep the goodies fresh in this dry climate.

Until my next update, I remain, your gifted correspondent.
So nice!
